[4.50/10] The Eclipse (2009)

The Eclipse (2009)

Short review: "The Eclipse" is slow-paced Irish horror/drama, set in the city of Cobh, County Cork, during a week-long literary festival. Well-photographed by Ivan Reynolds, the film is nice to look at, but unfortunately, the story never seems to find itself. Almost nothing interesting happens during its 90 minutes running time. There are few dramatic moments and some scary moments in it, but none of them were particularly impressive or intriguing.. or spooky enough. The acting and characters were appealing - Hinds and Hjejle were both great, but it was obvious, there was almost no on-screen chemistry between them. The atmosphere was moody and probably too melancholic. All in all, "The Eclipse" is an odd mixture of a ghost story and a family drama, with no scares, and zero tension and suspense, that has very little story... and it's a boring one.

  • My Rating: 4.50/10
  • Rotten Tomatoes: 76% (6.8/10)
  • IMDb: 6.4/10
