Quick Review: A step below the first, yet nearly as taut, thrilling and compelling, this competently crafted and directed sequel may suffer from a weaker going-for-vengence story, playing it a bit more safe this time around, but watching Washington's yet again stellar performance as the uncompromising justice-maker with gentle, protective soul is absorbing and emotionally involving enough to neglect the plot's minor flaws, plus, the action itself is brutally good in its unsettling ruthlessness.

Washington always turns in a great performance. Even when he phones it in.
Alex, well-said. I couldn't agree more.
