[4.50/10] Sorority Row (2009)

Sorority Row (2009)

Short review: "Sorority Row" is the bland remake of 83's "The House on Sorority Row", provided more laughs than screams, as five close sisters/friends accidentally have their close friend murdered in a prank gone amiss and vow to keep it secret. The build up to the conclusion of the film became more and more unrealistic and over-the-top, especially as the attractive cast is killed off one after the other. At the end though, the ultimate revelation was mind-numbingly lame. It's not that this is necessarily a completely awful film, but it does lack in the scariness factor, and it's not too suspenseful, either. On the other side, I liked the characters in the film, because they were a tad more fleshed-out than the typical lineup of female slasher victims. They had personality, even if it was sometimes cliché - at least it was there. The actresses portraying the girls deserve much of the credit for this, because they made their characters at least halfway interesting, and often quite funny. All in all, "Sorority Row" is a often dull and unimaginative waste of film. It delivers nothing new, except a bad spin on an old story.

  • My Rating: 4.50/10
  • Rotten Tomatoes: 22% (4.0/10)
  • IMDb: 5.3/10
