[6.00/10] Carriers (2009)

Carriers (2009)

Short review: Basically at its heart "Carriers" is a road trip movie trying to transcend the usual coming of age angst and self-discovery learned along the way storyline by hiding itself inside of a coming of the end of the world angst and self-discovery of hate and loneliness learned along the way storyline. This is not a zombie flick, it's a virus flick and nothing happens to the infected except for death. The only device of suspense in a virus flick is the avoidance of being infected. In that respect this film is a success. It never becomes kitsch and the breakdown of our false loyalties was well executed. The acting is good, not stellar, but I don't know that it could have been acted out any other way. The characters seemed believable and true to their roles. Chris Pine was especially good. And you can always rely on Christopher Meloni to provide moral fiber in a film. For a low budget film, "Carriers" is not bad at all. You won't earn any intellectual points or gain any further knowledge about end of world viruses by watching this. But you will enjoy it for its controversial decisions made by the characters in the film.

  • My Rating: 6.00/10
