Quick Review: A realistically bleak and intimate character portrait of a wandering woman living in her van as an aftermath of recession, whose grittiness is enhanced by the docu- like camerawork and desolated, yet glorious scenery that represents the loneliness and 'happy' freedom of its restrained protagonist, played so effortlessly by Francis McDormand, "Nomadland" is quietly engrossing, at times sad, but never depressing, though frankly it barely hits as hard, emotionally, as it should.
