[7.50/10] The White Tiger (2021)

Quick Review: A vivid depiction of India's cultural chaos and distinctive beauty, deftly utilized as a backdrop of one ambitious and crafty young man's colorful and engaging rags-to-riches journey, elevated by lively narrative, sharp editing, and skillful camerawork, "TWT" transforms from light and joyful to grim and obscure in a darkly comic fashion, much like the shifty nature of its obedient and loyal-turned-impure main hero, who Gourav portrays near flawlessly with heart, vigor and passion.

I liked the movie. Felt the acting was authentic, too. Wasn't the biggest fan of the constant voiceover narration. Would rather the film play out more naturally because the story was very compelling on its own.

P.S. Good to see you're still pumping out great reviews! It's been so long since I've visited your cool little corner of the internet. And I followed you on IG -- same name @filmmattic!

Hey, Matty! Good to see you back after all these years! I've been missing you, and yes, I never quit reviewing films haha... thank you so much for the kind words, and I'll definitely follow you back on IG.

As for the film, I didn't mind it had a narrator...kinda felt more personal that way. Do you still review films as well?

Awesome! Haven't reviewed a film in the way I used to. I've put a few mini-reviews on the Instagram I just started. Nothing too serious. And thanks for following back :)

I could see how you found the narrator personal. I think a fine balance has to be struck between a narrator who serves as a sort of God overseeing this guy's life or another character who's simply reacting to everything as it happens much like the audience. Still really enjoyed the film. Your consistency is incredible!

I'll keep my eye on your IG account then ;) I really appreciate you as a reader and commentator , as your thoughts are always insightful.

Well, watching and reviewing films on this site is my biggest passion in life, and (probably) my mission. lol I had a few low points over the years, but managed to pick up somehow. Not sure if you know, but our blog friend Melissa Bradley passed away in 2019. :( I miss her so much! Do you have Facebook?

Gosh, just hearing about Melissa's passing for the first time. :( Devastating. She was such a wonderful beacon of light and positivity. I knew her health had deteriorated, but I wasn't sure how bad it got at the end...thanks for sharing. It's a really hard thing to process. Hope her family finds peace because she put a lot of goodness into the world.

Very sad, indeed. I loved her...she was truly an amazing woman in every way.
