Quick Review: Based on the first- class production design, and decent CGIs, it's fair to say Bekmambetov's rendition is a technically well-crafted remake with a strong lead, but does the story of Judas Ben-Hur need to be retold once again? No, not really, especially when it's got very little to add or to entertain with, at least until the chariot race towards the final act which is thoroughly spectacular, and shot with panache! The rest is just a sluggishly-paced, ho-hum bore that barely leaves an impact.

Which is why Hollywood really needs to stop remaking classic films...
It does. It's getting ridiculous!
