QuickRating: It has an intriguing premise, the lush bush scenery is absolutely stunning to look at, and the capable Willem Dafoe delivers a convincing and truly captivating performance as the composed man on a hunt for the last Tasmanian tiger, but "The Hunter" doesn't live up to its title at all, as it promises to be a tense and thrilling action thriller, but it ends up being a slow and tedious drama that fails to engage on an emotional level.

Dafoe doesn't always pick the best movies.
Alex, and he should be, because he's a truly talented actor.
I agree with you and Alex. Dafoe needs to pick better films than he does. He's a marvelous actor.
Mel, and I agree with you that Dafoe is a great actor. The films he stars in mostly aren't.
I bet that this is the type of films Dafoe thinks are good and what he wants to be in. I am not crazy about this one, but I liked AntiChrist and his newest offering 4:44 The Last Day on Earth is, although slow-going, kinda interesting even if it might not be everybody's cup of tea.
Hans, this one wasn't as pretentious as Antichrist, but still kinda dull. I'm planning to see 4:44, as it sounds quite intriguing. I have no problems with slow-paced films, unless their sluggishness pays off in the end. :)
