QuickRaitng: It has a dark nature, hence, it's hard to call it enjoyable, and its grim visual style is far from appealing, but "Young Adult" is nonetheless a well-balanced and engaging dramedy, that has as many laughs as it does serious moments. The gorgeous Charlize Theron delivers a very charismatic lead performance, and even though it's hard to feel sympathy for her barely likable character at first, later on you'll find yourself in love with Mavis' childish naughtiness.

Definitely hitting my Netflix list.
farawayeyes, it seems your Netflix queue is getting longer and longer. I hope you'll be able to see all these films. :)
if I made a list of the best films in 2011 this one would be in my top 15 for sure. I liked it better than previous work like Up In The Air and Juno, but that's just me, I tend to go for the darker things for some reason.
Hans, I wish I could agree with you, but I can't. Up in the Air was at least twice as better than this one in almost every aspect. Juno wasn't superior, but was pretty much on par.
I love 'darker' too, but darker does not always mean better. :)
This movie was pretty decent. I loved Charlize's character, she was the most enjoyable and sympathetic one to me. I wanted Mavis to punch out her ex's wife. What a superior bitch she was! LOL It perfectly captured suburban/small town Middle America, though. For a minute I thought I was seeing my cousin's house. ;)
When you live where I do, Netflix is the only answer. So many films never make it to the islands. I don't have commercial TV, so I just work my way through the Netflix queue.
Yes, it was decent.. no, wait.. it was good. :) I wasn't rooting for Mavis, because here attitude was unacceptable, but hell yeah she was funny!
farawayeyes, and if you lived where I live, you would think of the islands as the ultimate paradise.
I love Jason Reitman, I love Diablo Cody, I love Charlize Theron - guess who will definitely check this one out?
Maynard, I guess you. :) LOL. I hope you like it, buddy.
