Quick Review: A seemingly kind- hearted, but actually unsettling real- life story with a sensitive subject of child abuse, this is an important film that is a compelling to watch as it's harrowing to experience, because of its unexpectedly shattering turn of events. Thoughtfully-structured and mostly told through flashbacks that skillfully smoothly interact with the present, "The Tale" depicts chilhood memories in a unique and effective way, letting its star Laura Dern to lead the entire narrative.

She is a good actress although after seeing her in the The Last Jedi, she's starting to look a little rough around the edges.
