Quick Review: Set in Japan, yet shot in Taiwan, "Silence" is prettily- photographed, taking full advantage of its gorgeous scenery and spot-on art direction, both complemented by the highly polished cinematography. In spite of the importance of its faith- based spiritual story, this real murky, heavily religious film is slow-moving, overlong, and difficult to watch, due to a monotonous script that doesn't allow its strong cast to deliver their best, and dozy execution that makes it a tiresome experience.

Yes, considering the cast and the theme, that's a shame.
Alex, frankly it was a torture to watch at times, regardless of its beauty.
