Quick Review: A small town drama of isolation, poverty, and community dynamics that changes into a brutal western thriller riddled with savagery and violence, this atmospheric, set- in-rural-Brazil quiet shocker may be challenging in terms of pacing, but not only "Bacurau" is impossible to predict and so artfully and skillfully blurred in terms of genre identity, but it also concerns some important topics, such as political corruption, social inequality, and gun culture in scarily realistic situations.

Western thriller set in Brazil - now that sounds interesting.
Alex, it's just as interesting as it sounds. First half is more drama than thriller though. Things get crazy in its second half.
