Quick Review: Built on faith, hope, love, and prayers, "Breakthrough" is surely a tragic, if uplifting Christian drama based on a 'miraculous' real- life story, but putting the latter aside, this one on the other hand is yet another manipulative tearjerker with preachy approach, Hollywood style plot formula, and clumsy narrative, which is occasionally compelling, at times even genuinely moving, and led by Metz's devoted performance as the grieving, if optimistic mother driven by belief in God.

It's always a shame they can't make really good Christian films. At least not the independent ones.
True that. I've seen just a few that are worth it.
