Quick Review: Competent director Chandor successfully maintains the quiet tension throughout the movie, the script is intelligently-written, and the neo-noir-ish feel of the visuals suits the time period it is set in, but despite all these qualities along with Isaac and Chastain's beyond terrific performances, "A Most Violent" year is too straightforward and laid-back to live up to its title, and to intrigue the audience deeply enough, not to mention the lack of climax, and the very monotonous pacing.
