QuickRating: It has a decent premise, the special effects are pretty adequate for the most part, and the scenery of Moscow city is absolutely glorious to watch, but "The Darkest Hour" remains an unimaginative and poorly-executed alien invasion flick that feels rushed and contrived from the very beginning and has a paper-thin plot and zero character development. Worst of all, the trailer is more tense, exciting and entertaining to watch than the movie itself.

Isn't this the one where the ball of light disintegrates people?
Alex, exactly. Pure trash, don't bother watching it.
If the trailer was more tense and exciting than the movie, then that's probably why I thought this looked interesting. All of the reviews I've read say it's rubbish though. I think I'll give it a wide berth.
I gave it a 5/10 and pretty much agree with your review. Dull trash, nothing special.
Russ, don't get mislead by the trailer, which was quite good. The film was an absolute crap, so trust me and don't waste your time on it.
Maynard, the first time I saw the trailer I was like: Oh, that looks like fun. Oh boy I was wrong.
I actually found the whole thing okay! Nothing over-the-top, but it's a lot better.
Probably saying this cuz Sci-fi never really get to me...except if it's Spaceballs!
Kaijinu, and I thought it was rubbish. LOL. TDH was actually a sci-fi horror flick, so I can see why you enjoyed it. ;)
Spaceballs ROCKED!
