The Killer Inside Me (2010)
"The Killer Inside Me" is based on a Jim Thompson's novel about a deputy sheriff in a small town in 1950s Texas who has a murderous streak. The story was an empty peace of crap, relying on the neverending (boring) dialogues and disturbing violence .Watching gorgeous women like Jessica Alba and Kate Hudson beaten to death was actually quite unpleasant. The violence was brutal, yet gratuitous, and really added nothing to the story. Worst of all, the film contained zero suspense. I personally thought Casey Afleck's performance was terrible. He was mumbling so much the entire time, and it was very annoying. I couldn't stand him. Affleck's characterization was flat and entirely without depth or nuance. As the main character he wasn't convincing at all, since he does not reflect any complication and he also doesn't fit in a role with two women in love. Actually, I've always thought he's one of the most overrated actors ever - he lacks charisma and screen presence, just like his brother. Alba brings very little to the role, but her performance isn't necessarily bad either. Surprisingly, Kate Hudson gave pretty decent performance. You also fail entirely to grow to like or care about any of these characters, nor do you ever understand any of their motivations. The film quickly became unbearable, because of the lead character's cruelness and not having any remorse over killing completely innocent people. Visually, the film was also a lackluster. Extremely dull, ugly and painfully slow-moving, "The Killer Inside Me" was a major disappointment. One of the worst movie of 2010 so far.
