Vampire Academy (2014)
Quick Review: Yes, it's reasonably watchable, and has its moments of mindless entertainment, plus, Zoey Deutch adds a bit of energy, and sparkle to it, but "Vampire Academy" is so uneven and terribly-directed, sometimes it feels like a bunch of random sequences thrown together, that barely make any sense. Unlike "Twilight" series, though, this one never takes itself that seriously, but on the other hand, its goofy nature overshadows the decent stuff in it, dooming it to mediocrity.

Random sequences - like stringing together a bunch of Saturday Night Live skits? Pass.
Alex, exactly. Avoid at all costs.
They took an extremely entertaining book series that was filled with a rich mythology—and turned it into a pre-teen 'Mean girls with fangs'. Not to mention they completely whitewashed the lead character, Rose Hathaway who was supposed to be biracial and exotic. Goes to show that nepotism is still alive and well in Hollywood.
Anonymous, thanks for the thoughtful comment. I haven't read the books, so I can't compare them with the movie, but I must say, I've seen worse than that.
