QuickRaitng: The suspense takes some time to really build, and Sara Paxton's over-the-top performance gets truly annoying after a while, but "The Innkeepers" is still a spooky, atmospheric and finely crafted old-fashioned ghost story, with a spine-shiveringly scary final act, set in a one of the creepiest basements ever put on film. That being said, the film is nowhere nearly as ominous and terrifying as Ti West's previous effort, "The House of the Devil", which remains a classic.

I have been wanting to see this!! I loved The House of the Devil and the trailer for this one looks just as exciting!! I'm even more convinced by your review and rather thrilled to learn it didn't suck, haha!
I'm a strange guy. The only Ti West movie that I really love is the over-the-top Cabin Fever sequel which is just hilarious.
THOTD was far too slow and tedious for my liking, same for Innkeepers.
I liked it a bit more than THOTD but still, it didn't do much for me.
Nicole, it was on video on demand on Dec 30. You should have seen it then. :) The House of Devil gave me the creeps. The ending terrified my and the film as a whole was great!
Maynard, I agree... you're weird. I'm shocked that a horror connoisseur like you didn't appreciate The House of Devil. It was slow, but very involving and the final act was so scary, I was shaking in my boots. :)
Cabin Fever 2 was so cheesy.
I don't know, dude. My pedo Uncle Ronny's basement is pretty damn creepy.
But has it been shown on film? I don't think so. :)
hurm, sorry mate, but ghost movies never interest me. Seen it, but I'm more "meh" than "ooh~"
Had no idea. Should have skipped it then.
Creepy basements get me every time. I think I'm going to enjoy this one very much. Great review! :)
Hope you are having a good week, hon. Hugs!
Mel, tell me about it. I LOVE creepy basements, and this one was one of the creepiest. :)
Thanks.
No, I'm not. I'm studying from dusk till dawn, and it's exhausting. LOL.
