QuickRating: With its splendidly-executed and remarkably-realistic portrayal of one family's struggle during China's pre-revolutionary era, Zhang Yimou proves yet again that he's capable of turning a seemingly simplistic story into something so deeply-moving, heart-wrenching and emotionally-powerful, it may touch your heart and soul forever.
My Rating: 9.00/10
In My Skin (2002)
QuickRating: Although it deals with the disturbing subject matter of self-mutilation, "In My Skin" is neither as shocking nor as effective as it thinks it is, and its bleak, grinding atmosphere and obnoxious characters, make it an unpleasant and rather bizarre experience, that never fully manages to get under your skin, despite its graphicness.
My Rating: 4.50/10
[Director's Cut]
QuickRating: Thanks to its excitingly action-packed plot, compelling characters, eye-candy cinematography, top-notch special and practical effects, and stylized goriness, visionary director Snyder's debut feature, "Dawn of the Dead", ranks as one of one of the most most polished and accomplished horror remakes in cinematic history.
QuickRating: Exceptionally well acted, yet rather unimpressive compared to Aronofsky's previous efforts, "The Wrestler" is a compelling if slightly overrated character-driven drama, that surely marks Mickey Rourke's comeback as a serious actor, and showcases director's talent, but the film itself is as flawed and inconsistent as its main character.
My Rating: 7.00/10

Nice review list! Zack Snyder's remake is certainly an entertaining reboot for modern audiences. The soundtrack is also unique and boasts a great mix of tunes.
I loved Dawn of the Dead!!! I have seen it I don't know how many times and I quote lines from it with my friends. One of my fave lines "The plan is you drink a nice tall glass of Shut the Fuck Up!" Zack really amped up the zombie sub-genre with this.
I loved The Wrestler as well. Mickey was outstanding and it was a unique glimpse into the world of non-WWE pro wrestling.
Oh yes!! I love love love "Dawn of the Dead." I remember seeing it in theaters and was so scared afterwards. Looking back I don't understand why. It's a great film but not necessarily scary. I agree with you on
"The Wrestler" not my favorite, especially of Aronofsky's but I just love Mickey Rourke and he was fantastic in this and "Sin City."
Awe, c'mon....
Only 7 out of 10 for The Wrestler?
totally don't understand the low rating for "In My Skin" (a movie that totally got under MY skin)
Thanks, Jaccs ;) Thank you for mentioning the soundtrack, since I forgot to do that ;) Great reboot and great debut film! Snyder is the man! :)
Mel, I did too ;) Have you seen the director's cut? It's even better!
Haha! Great line! How can I not remember that?!
Like it, but didn't love it.. it wasn't anything that special and I found myself a bit disappointed.
Nicole, so glad you agree with me on The Wrestler! Definitely overrated and definitely Aronofsky's weakest film. Having said that, I still think it's good.
Loved it too. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to see it in theaters, but I was blown away nevertheless. ;)
Andrew, yes, buddy... I'm sick of overrated and overhyped movies, and I reckon The Wrestler is one of those. It doesn't deserves more than a 7.00 in my book.
But Marissa Tomei showed her boobies in The Wrestler!
Andrew, that's why a gave it a 7 ;)
certainly loved Dawn of The Dead as remakes go and totally agree with your anaylisis of the Wrestler.
Demps, glad you agree with me on The Wrestler. I reckon most people are afraid to admit that, in fact, it just wasn't that great. And yeah, Dawn of Dead was way better than Aronosfsky's so-called masterpiece :)
Finally managed to watch The Wrestler - and I absolutely loved it! Been a huge wrestling fan in my childhood, so I was truly connected to Mickey Rourke's character and all the 80s stuff that was goin' on in here.
9/10
Maynard, I obviously liked it, but didn't love it. And I found it overrated.
