Quick Review: Largely benefiting from Thomas Jane's committed lead performance and Hilditch's ability to generate dread through the sinister fell of the film, whose beautifully old-fashioned visuals recreate the era so authentically, "1922" is a proper slow-burner that succeeds as much as a psychological thriller about true guilt, as it does as pure horror film, being dark, ominous, visceral, and unsettling all at once, and delivering subtle, yet very effective scares that will make your skin crawl.
