Quick Review: It's rather overlong, and maybe not as inspirational as it should be, but the real story it tells about one black athlete's battle over racism is great and significant in its own right, and also paced smoothly enough to arrest your mind. Director Hopkins captures nicely on camera the era the film is set in, with notable attention to period details, as well as production values, but what makes "Race" really compelling is Stephan James' incredibly genuine, quiet, yet dedicated performance.
