Quick Review: Formulaic ending, occasional predictability, and some genre cliches aside, "Annabelle" is actually a pretty solid prequel to the far superior "The Conjuring". While the director mostly fails to maintain the dread 'in the air' in the first half of the movie, he makes up for that further on, providing some demonic images, and a couple of scares so effective, they will make you jump out of your seat. The stylishly muted cinematography fits the tone & era, and the acting is decent.
