Alex Cross (2012)
QuickRating: It has a strong, and downright insane villain that kind of saves it from being a complete and utter disaster, but despite that "Alex Cross" i still ultimately forgettable, and feels incredibly generic and too dated for today's standards, plot-wise and execution-wise. On the top of that, its main hero played by the otherwise charming Tyler Perry is bland and clumsy character you may find hard to root for, and unfortunately, that brings the movie down even further.

Yeah, if you can't believe in or relate to the main character, then that's a big problem.
Alex, I know, right? This is exactly the case with "Alex Cross".
I have a real problem when films and stories go backwards with a character. After seeing Morgan Freeman portray the older Alex in Kiss the Girls and Along Came a Spider, this sounds like a waste. Perry is definitely not on par with Freeman. Besides, who in the hell cares about the damned origin of the character? This is why George Lucas fucked up so royally with the his second Star Wars trilogy. No one gave a shit about the origins of Darth Vader and the Galactic Empire. ;)
Mel, this one's nowhere near as gripping as Kiss the Girls and Along Came a Spider, nor is Tylor Perry. :)
