Flying Swords of Dragon Gate
After the eye-popping trailer for Ching Siu-Tung's "The Sorcerer and the White", released a month ago, here's the new trailer for another hugely anticipated martial arts flick - Tsui Hark's 3D wuxia epic, "Flying Swords of Dragon Gate". Judging from the surprisingly short trailer, the visuals are absolutely stunning, and the wire-fu-driven action looks both, stylish and thrilling. Check out the new teaser below, and hopefully it will make you just as excited as it made me.
The movie stars Jet Li, Chen Kun, Zhou Xun, Louis Fan Siu-wong, Kwai Lun-mei, Mavis Fan and Li Yu-chun, and tells the story of the struggle between a Ming Dynasty general (Jet Li) and his rival, a powerful eunuch (Chen Kun). Although this film is based on the story of 1992's "New Dragon Gate Inn", Tsui denied that this film will be a remake of the old classic but more of a re-imagine. Tsui also worked on the screenplay in addition to directing and producing the film, to ensure the originality of the story. "Flying Swords of Dragon Gate" is shot entirely in 3D, being the first-ever 3D wuxia film in history, and it's scheduled for release in December this year.

Wow, THAT was visually stunning! Truly artistic.
Doralynn, I was blown away by its beauty as well. Tsu Hark definitely knows artsy ;)
This looks like it could be pretty good. I used to hate on Jet Li for using wires, but now it looks like he's finally mastered them.
I haven't heard of this one. Just showed the hubby the trailer. It's now on our list. Unfortunately, we'll have to wait for it on video. I'm one of those weird individuals who actually gets a headache watching a 3D film. I thought I had outgrown it, but even when we went to see the remake of Clash of the Titans it was the same thing. Complete bummer.
That was truly stunning and beautiful. I'm really impressed by the colors, the f/x, the way the words appeared like sword slashes. Very artistic and brilliant. Thanks for sharing this, hon. :)
Kid, it looks very promising, indeed. Tsui Hark has only one issue as a director - the pacing of his films is always uneven. Apart from that, he's brilliant! :)
I don't mind wires at all. Actually, I'm a big fan of wire-fu, but only if it's done right. :)
Isis, as far as I know, "Dragon Gate" still has no US release date. It will be released in December in Asia, so if you have to wait for to come out on DVD, you should wait at least 8 months from now.
3D doesn't bother me at all. So far, I've seen near 20 3D films and didn't have a headache once :)
"Titans" wasn't terrible, but its 3D effects definitely were.
Mel, I found it quite breathtaking as well. The golden tint of the cinematography was so eye-catching, and the wire-fu/flying swords got my adrenaline up.
You're welcome, hon. I always wan to share beautiful stuf fwith you. :)
This is slowly hyping up towards its release over my side, it's been a while since I've seen a Tsui Hark film.
J-Son, so you haven't seen Hark's "Detective Dee"? Check it out ASAP, buddy. It's great!
