[5.00/10] The Cat (2011)

The Cat (2011)

QuickRating: This potentially good cats-inspired Korean horror flick has a somewhat original concept, and it features a decent cast, some truly ominous images and a few graphically gory kills that fans of the genre would enjoy, however, after an intriguing first half, "The Cat" transforms into the typical Asian story, dealing with ghost kids and unsolved deaths, and it's all too familiar and hackneyed to be effective or very memorable.

Eeep. It looks really creepy. Thing is...for those of us that have only checked out the foreign flicks occasionally, this might not come across as "hackneyed" ya know? Like maybe it will seem original to us. But it looks way to scary for me.

Michael, those of you are very few. :)

It's not as creepy as it looks. Just slightly.

Ghost kids and unsolved deaths are a trope I find cool, but sometimes it is way over used and this sounds like one of those times. Think I'll take your advice and pass. ;)

Mel, we've seen all these before. I expected so pissed off creepy cats, but sadly they weren't the main factor of the story. Avoid it, unless you really like these kind of stuff.

I may still see this if it comes my way especially since you mention some positives despite the ghost kids. That can get annoying but it generally creeps me out nevertheless, haha! I kinda like the movie poster too.

Nicole, the poster is great and quite freakish. The movie itself not so much. :) It could have been so much better...

the film isn't that original, but I do like its simplicity!

it was watchable, but nothing more.
