Quick Review: Paying a nostalgic, yet fun tribute to "T2", without much novelty, but plenty of thrills, action, and sarcastic humor, "Dark Fate" is a technically-skillful sequel boasting with top-notch CGI work, exhilarating chases, hard-hitting fights, and out- of-this-world stunts, but its strength remains the female-led cast, notably Hamilton's badass return, as well as the characters' stirring backstories, which tie all loose ends, and add an emotional weight to it all.

Seeing it this afternoon and looking forward to it!
ReplyDeleteAlex, it was far from wow, but it's almost everything a modern Terminator movie should be! Hope you enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteNot a fan of its idea of killing a certain character as it kinda ruins the prior film and all it worked up for but, then again, they pretty much did the same thing for "Genisys" so I try not to whine much.
ReplyDeleteThis one's pretty okay with the action scenes and "Old Man Schwarzenegger", but story-wise, is there really nothing more in these movies than the "we must protect so-so from another-advanced-terminator-model-but-really-it's-just-a-rehashed-T-1000-model because FUTURE!" dance? It's...getting pretty old.
At least Salvation tried something a bit different...
I agree, it was a bit generic, but I took it as nostalgia to the old films. I liked Salvation, it felt really gritty and grim, but fun-wise, this one did the work.
