Quick Review: Set in a futuristic world driven by high technology and biomechanics, "Upgrade" is in its core a familiar revenge thriller with a touch of horror, which in the wrong hands would have turned into a silly mess, but Whannell's superb skills, balanced approach and pretty sleek execution transform the 'absurdity' into something wildly inventive, and make this sci-fi film a violent thrill- ride with fresh ideas, polished looks, highly creative fight scenes, and a couple of effective twists.
I'd wondered about this one and almost went to see it.
