[3.50/10] Hellraiser: Judgment (2018)

Hellraiser: Judgment (2018)

Quick Review: Ineptly conceived, and so pointless it has no reason to exist, not only "Judgment" fails to capture the sadistic tone and chilly visual coldness of the old Hellraiser films, but apart from a few macabre guts-n-gore kill scenes, this cheap, ugly, poorly-made sequel is devoid of any true scares, creepiness, and atmosphere, with the only passable moments being a few bits from its banal 'serial killer' plot with silly twist and its brief running time.

Are they still making sequels? The original is what - thirty years old now? I think they've milked it enough.

Sadly, they do. Yes, the original is exactly 30 years old. They should have stopped making sequels a while ago.

As much as I like Hellseeker and Hellworld, this franchise should have stayed dead at Bloodlines. Still, I like the opening for Judgement. That all another faction of Hell working with the cenobites was pretty clever, but everything else here is (As Ace Ventura would say it) "phleaah..."

I agree about the opening being one of the very few decent moments in this crappy sequel.
