[6.25/10] Mom and Dad (2018)

Mom and Dad (2018)

Quick Review: From its hilariously twisted 'killer parents' premise and darkly metaphorical approach to the sharp editing, frenetic execution and chillingly effective score, "Mom and Dad" is basically the 'battle royale' of the generations presented in a way that is simultaneously disturbing and comic. Embracing its demented concept and taking advantage of its two main stars raging performances, with Blair's metamorphosis being the best bit, this sick flick is pure violent fun, if hardly that special.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything to laugh at with this film's approach on black comedy. The mythos used didn't make sense and the flashbacks felt like they lagged the film unnecessarily. Then again, I'm not much for black comedies anyway. Still think this film would have worked better as a straight horror flick.

I found it amusing to a certain extend, and I'm not sure it would have worked as a straight up horror movie. Nothing extraordinary though.
