[4.75/10] Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (2012)

QuickRating: It's hard to believe that the director of the awesome "Wanted" directed this misfire of a movie. "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" attempts to blend historical facts with fiction, but fails to do so, and on the top of that, it takes itself ridiculously seriously. Even though, the action scenes are nicely-done and full of great stunts, and the vampires are rather cool-looking, the storytelling is rushed, and the script is completely humorless.

I've read the book and already knew the train sequence wasn't even in the book. Might watch it on NetFlix, but I didn't think the book was great either.
And I'll still be around commenting, just not posting!

Alex, I haven't read the book, but I imagine the source material is not that great wither. I love Timur, so I expected more from this one.

Yay for that. My blog is nothing without your valuable comments. :)

In spite of Alex's comment, the book was great. :)

So many things wrong and one of the biggest for me was how Timur completely under-utilized Rufus Sewell, who is one of the coolest actors out there. There was not enough time spent with his vampires nor did the writers, etc. set up a coherent storyline. They should have gone with the book. They even tried to make bat shit crazy Mary Todd Lincoln cool, but failed epically.

Mel, was it?

I thought Dominic Cooper's character was largely underwritten too, and that didn't allow him to shine... and he's a great actor!

The direction was weak, and the script even weaker. And I so wanted to like it...
