[6.50/10] We Bought a Zoo (2011)

We Bought a Zoo (2011)

QuickRating: It's predictable, quite straightforward, and it lacks depth, but "We Bought a Zoo" is still sweet, pleasant to watch and even moving at times, plus, it showcases love and respect for both animals and humans, and it's full of likable characters and adorable creatures. Matt Damon delivers a pretty engaging performance as the kind and determined father, and Scarlett Johansson proves everyone who thinks she can't act wrong.

My wife wants to see this. She digs animal flicks.

I know that this is about a family who buys a zoo... but come on... We Bought A Zoo??? Stupidest title ever IMO :)

Maynard, yes, they took it too literal, but I actually like the title a lot. It promises a lot of fun and sweet animals, and this is exactly what it delivers. :)

This may have been last years only real movie. You'd never know that from the title because its far from a campy kids movie. Matt Damon has never been better, and Scarlet until now has never been a favorite. It's not often that the entire family can enjoy a movie together. My 11 year old son said that he loved it so much that it's tied for #1 with The Goonies, and that's saying something coming from an 11 year old boy. The entire family agreed that laughing, and occasionally shedding a tear in the same movie is a good thing. I wish there were more movies like We Bought a Zoo. Actually, I just wish there were more Cameron Crowe movies.
