[7.50/10] We Need to Talk About Kevin (2011)

We Need to Talk About Kevin (2011)

QuickRating: As emotionally exhausting as it's utterly horrifying, Lynne Ramsay's latest is every parent's nightmare. Focusing on the deeply complicated relationship between а long-suffering mother and a cruel monster child, "We Need to Talk About Kevin" is more shocking, sinister and unsettling than any other movie this year that dares to call itself a horror. Besides, Tilda Swinton is nothing short of sensational here!

And people wonder why my wife and I didn't want kids...

Alex, if you'd like to have a child one day, please don't watch this film. :)

I had wondered about this one. Thanks for the warning, I've been there and done that. This would not be entertainment for me.

farawayeyes, if your early motherhood was a struggle, I wpn't be recommending this one to you, because it might bring back bad memories. It's a great film though.

Ooo okay so this sounds awesome! To be honest horror films involving children always creep me out so this will be perfect. Plus, your review assures me that it won't disappoint.

Richi, thank you so much for the compliments. I write longer reviews too, but I've seen so many movie lately, I try to catch up with these quick reviews. :)
Well, not sure if I agree with you on your statement about 'professional', because I consider myself an amateur writer. :)

I visited your blog concerning 3D movies and I found it absolutely wonderful. Why don't you add the followers gadget, so the people like me, who like it, can become a members? :)

Nicole, this isn't basically a horror movie, but it could be considered as one. The kid in it is so cruel that he makes the one from The Omen looks like a sweetheart. LOL.

I haven't heard about this movie. When I see "Kevin" I always think about "Home alone" (; And yeah, the kid can be really annoying :P
Take a look at my fashion blog and let me know what you think about it: www.violinstyle.blogspot.com :)

The Violin Style, believe me, this one has nothing to do with Home Alone, nor the character Kevin does. The on ine HA is a playful kiddo, while the one in WNTTAK is pure evil.

I dropped by and loved what I saw. You're a stunning girl. :) Followed as well.

I MUST see this. Looks like a damn great 'sophisticated horror film'. Oh, and I love Tilda.

George Beremov [Nebular] said...

Kaijinu, it's sinister in a real-life sort of way. :)

Harry, I think you're gonna love it. It's better than Melancholia. :) I adore Tilda s well.

I love unsettling and creepy stories about children. There is something about the juxtaposition of innocent-looking and evil. Plus, I really love Tilda.

"There is something about the juxtaposition of innocent-looking and evil." - I couldn't say it any better. Exactly! Kevin is the most evil kid of them all. Although it was only a movie, I felt sorry for Tilda's character. Yes, she's amazing.:)

Gah! I've seen the preview for this movie twice now on other movies I've watched and I want to see it so bad! I'm glad to hear that it has your seal of approval, I would have been horribly disappointed if this movie was anything short of awesome.

George Beremov [Nebular] said...

Michele, glad to see you back here. I missed your comments. :)
Awesome is not the word that best describes this disturbing and difficult-to-watch film, but as a true horror buff, I think you'll appreciate it. :)

Haha, sorry. I realized I hadn't been commenting on anybody else's site in a while and I felt like a total bitch, so I'm trying to make up for it! I promise to drop by on a more regular basis. :)
