[4.50/10] Apollo 18 (2011)

Apollo 18 (2011)

QuickRating: Gonzalo López-Gallego definitely deserves credit for his creativity and solid directing skills, as "Apollo 18" is very difficult-to-shoot, and yet he made the movie seem incredibly authentic, visually. On the other hand, the film itself tries hard to be a creature feature, a space flick and realistic 'found footage' horror movie all at once, but it struggles to find the balance between these genres, and as a result, it ends up being a mess. A big, boring one.

Well that sounds like a horrible film. I don't really take to movies that revolve around going to the moon anyways (with some exceptions) however for it being horror infused it sounds like it could have been interesting. It's too bad they couldn't pull it off. : )

Nicole, it's a shame indeed. This film could have been so much better, but sadly it failed to deliver. It wasn't that terrible though. The were some truly scary moments in it, and the cast did a good job.

Too bad, I had high hopes for this one. But the move to September in the States was a bit of a red flag.

Larry, I expected something brilliant myself, but what I got was a mediocre space horror.
I agree, it was a box office failure as well. Thanks for the comment.

I knew after so many delays it would be a mess.

Alex, it was. The direction was all over the place and the story was a big hot mess. And I so wanted it to be good.

You pegged this one. Still not entirely sure of the blog etiquette - but here's a link to my review - if that's a bad thing to do, feel free to delete...

Craig why would I do that? :) It's not a bad thing at all.

Glad you agree with me on this one and thank for the comment.

I'm still going to see this just because the story intrigues me. I know I'm probably doomed to disappointment, but I have to watch.

You are willing to see this and that's coming from a found footage hater? :) Brilliant. I'm glad you'll give it a chance. I had high hopes for it, and though it was far from terrible, it ended up very disappointing.

Agree. The trailer was amazing but the movie was just disappointing.

George Beremov [Nebular] said...

Maynard, it definitely wasn't what I expected. Damn, I so wanted to like it.

Thanks for the review. I'll make sure not to buy it.

Reid, it's not worth it.
