Great list. I also loved the way you presented it: summary and fave films.

Thanks, Lesya. Glad you liked it. The best is yet to come though ;)

I'm with you on your bottom half of the top 20, with a few surprises like Stephen Chow. I didn't expect to see him, but it was delightful!

Great list (or rather, half of it)! =)

Thanks, J-Son, buddy :)

Oh, Stephen Chow belongs to this list. He is a one-of-a-kind filmmaker, which I like and respect A LOT! :)

Glad to see Evil Dead 2 topped your list of movies for Raimi!

Alex, "Evil Dead 2" is not only superior to the original, but also mu favorite Raimi film. It's absolutely fantastic, and a true classic!

Excellent list, great favorite directors. Danny Boyle and Darren Aronofsky are ones I always seem to forget for some reason when creating my own list, but they definitely deserve to be high up there. I just rewatched Boyle's Shallow Grave and forgot how much it scared the shit out of me. Yes to Robert Rodriguez!

George Beremov [Nebular] said...

Hufstader, thank you so much :) Both, Boyle and Aronofsky deserve to be on everybody's Favorite Directors list, as they are an incredible filmmakers. If I have to be honest, I haven't seen Shallow Grave, but I'll check it out as soon as I can. Rodriguez rules! :)

Not familiar with some of these film makers, but I so love Rodriguez, Aronofsky and Boyle. Raimi is a god for bringing the world Bruce Campbell. Blake Edwards is one of my all time faves as well as Clint Eastwood, Guillermo Del Toro, and Wes Craven.

Can't wait to see who else made your list. :)

George Beremov [Nebular] said...

I'm more into new wave type of directors, rather than the classic ones like Edwards. I won't comment on your other picks, coz otherwise I risk to reveal some of the names from the top half of the list, which I will probably post tomorrow. :)

Sam Raimi looks like he is about to kill someone! Did Bruce Campbell break his car again? I don't think I could have told you that "Dead by Dawn" was the subtitle for Evil Dead 2, definitely better than the original though.

Not seen Shallow Grave?! Great film. A very young-looking Ewan McGregor and Christopher Eccleston who I think is also superb.

I also love Jean-Pierre Jeunet; Amelie is one of my all time favourite films. You are spot on with "remarkable visual style"; I think the only guy who could give him a run for his money would be Guillermo del Toro.

Interested to see who your top ten are.

George Beremov [Nebular] said...

Yep, he looks kinda angry, but that's what I love about this photo. :)

No, I haven't but as I already said, I'll give it a shot very, very soon :)

Oh, Jeunet is exceptional, as is "Amelie"! It's also one of my all time favorite movies. His visual style is remarkable, indeed. I won't comment on del Toro, well, at least until tomorrow :)

Out of all of these directors I like Boyle the most. And I LOVE Trainspotting. The best drug-related movie of all time! Where are 10-1?

George Beremov [Nebular] said...

Minoccio, obviously I do too, since he's on the highest position on the bottom half of the list.
This is PART 1 [20 - 11], you didn't notice? :)

I did after I read your comment =)
