[6.50/10] Altitude (2010)

Altitude (2010)

"Altitude" follows a group of four friends on a weekend getaway aboard a small plane that suddenly turns deadly for the rookie pilot.Minutes after the group takes-off, an unexplained malfunction sends the aircraft climbing out of control into the heart of a mysterious storm. Unable to get their bearings or contact the ground, the survivors gradually realize they are locked in combat with a terrifying supernatural force. Despite its limited setting, "Altitude" provides a fine cast that deliver solid performances, claustrophobic and tense atmosphere, fairly original story and good special effects. Actually, "Altitude" could have been a great horror flick, but unfortunately, in its final part, the film turns into a huge nonsensical mess. The conclusion is so disappointing and so ridiculous, that it almost kills the whole movie. It's nevertheless a good flick, bordering on very good. "90210" star, Jessica Lowndes, is not only stunningly gorgeous and truly eye-candy, but she delivers a convincing performance as the rookie, yet very confident pilot, Sara. She really shows some good acting abilities and is the main star of the movie. Jake Weary gives a believable and very tense performance as the cocky and often rude Sal. Landon Liboiron's acting is far from great, but he delivers a passable performance, as his fear of enclosed spaces is very credible. Julianna Guill as Mel does a good job as well. Overall, the acting in this one is surprisingly strong. To shoot a movie where all the action takes place in a small plain and to make it that entertaining is not an easy thing to do, so director Kaare Andrews deserves an applause for that. His direction is remarkably impressive, providing a great variety of camera angles and shots, and creating a creepy and extremely claustrophobic atmosphere, that makes "Altitude" a suspenseful, intense and hugely engrossing edge-of-your-seat horror flick with excellent production values... almost ruined by a disappointingly silly climax

Dempsey, same case here. I'm absolutely terrified of flying, but it's more of a claustrophobia rather than fear of crash. That's why I loved this one. Thanks.

Alex, make sure you've tightened your seatbelt before the "flight" ;)

Jaccsy, believe it or not, I've never been on plane. I have a real fear of flying. I am terrified! That's why I thought "Altitude" was pretty scary. Give it a shot, you won't be disappointed ;)
