[6.50/10] Babysitter Wanted (2008)

Babysitter Wanted (2008)

"Babysitter Wanted" tells the story of a small-town 18 year old college girl named Angie who heads off to college, ready to take on the world of Art History. Greeted by her hungover roommate, Angie arrives at her dorm room, welcomed by a messy, cesspool of a flat. With the previous girl-roommate taking the dorm room bed with her, Angie is forced to sleep on the filthy sofa in the small living room area. In desperate need of some quick cash for a bed, Angie takes a babysitting job on a rural farm, not far from the college. With the family nice enough and the young boy well behaved, Angie, without hesitation, says yes to the job. The biggest shock was that the story was so similar to the one told "The House of Devil", released an year after "Babysitter", I couldn't believed it! I loved last year's "The House of Devil" a lot more than this one, but now I'm somewhat disappointed in it, since it was obvious, they had borrowed shamelessly from "Babysitter Wanted". Worst of all, "Devil" was much more successful than "Babysitter". Anyway, I still like both films. Technically, "Babysitter Wanted" is surprisingly well-crafted: The direction is excellent, because it generates tension on the spectator, and it creates an appropriate atmosphere. The productions values are great for a low budget movie, although there are some small problems with the lighting here and there. "Babysitter Wanted" also provides some suspenseful moments, well-made gore/death scenes and some supernatural surprises across the way. Acting wise, Bruce Thomas shined so did the Babysitter, Sarah Thompson. Although predictable and cliched, "Babysitter Wanted" is surprisingly well-made and decently-acted low budget chiller, that is tense, gory and fun to watch.

  • My Rating: 6.50/10
