[6.00/10] Brüno (2009)

Brüno (2009)

Short review: Taking an almost identical format to "Borat", a character heads to America for personal reason and finds enlightenment along the way while showing up the prejudices of those he meets, "Bruno" is definitely not for the faint-hearted and certainly not worthy of the accolades it has been receiving. Most of the scenes are just, frankly, a little bit too discomfiting for the viewer to actually enjoy although some standout moments do manage to get you laughing loudly. Despite the weakness of the film though, no such criticisms can be levelled at Cohen himself who is, in my opinion, one of the most fearless and brilliant comedic actors around today. To see what he endures while staying in character is to see a mixture of top-notch improvisation, acting of the bravest kind and smart witticisms.

  • My Rating: 6.00/10
  • Rotten Tomatoes: 68% (6.2/10)
  • IMDb: 6.7/10
